Learning A New Skill With Craftsy!

Years ago, as a young mother, I LOVED to crochet. I made all kinds of things for my children...jackets, ponchos, afghans. But over the years, I totally forgot how to do it...I couldn't even remember how to get the yarn on the hook. Over the last few years, I have wanted to start up again...a cute sock monkey hat pattern was calling to me.

I am really enjoying the class! The instructor has a relaxed, easy way of teaching and you can do it at your own pace. You can easily watch and crochet as you go. You can even ask questions as you learn, as well. I also like the option of repeating a 30 second section until you get it. There are 8 lessons in this class, each with many parts, It is perfect for the beginner and those wanting to learn stitches, troubleshooting, and basics.
We will even do an afghan in the course.

I would love to learn how to crochet, Linda! I should have learned from my Mom (although, I'm sure she did teach me a little knitting, but I would never know what to do these days). I checked out their site and the price is good for the online class. I hope you will let us know how you are coming along. I know the price is for a limited time, but I will save their site in my Favorites for future consideration. I think this is something I might enjoy learning over the Winter months.

My grandmother tried to teach me how to crochet when I was a little girl, but I never quite got the hang of it. Needlepointing on the other hand I can almost do blindfolded lol

I'd love to learn to crochet! But I have a hard time watching people doing things and doing the same thing myself. I had to make up my own quilt designs because I couldn't follow patterns. Any suggestions?

Yay for you!! My grandma taught me to crochet when I was 5, and I absolutely love it. In fact, I sell crocheted things, mostly locally by special order... so much fun :) Can't wait to see some of your finished projects!

Back when I was in high school I took Home Ec (just that fact gives you a clue how long ago it was) and started to crochet a blanket. I got about 1/3 done, and almost 40 years later it was still with me in the hopes that I would someday finish it. I FINALLY realized that was not gonna happen and parted with it. I hink I gave it to an animal shelter lol.

I can tell from what you've done so far you have natural talent. Your stitches are super tight and balanced.

I took a craftsy serger class a while ago. I never watched the whole thing though because their serger model was different and it didn't translate well, but the instructor was very knowledgeable and professional.

Ooh, Linda. You can do just too many things! I remember one summer, babysitting a 12 yr old girl (when I was 16) and she wanted to teach me how to knit. I did finish the project, a winter muffler, but ... well, let me just say, her beautiful scarf went for a gift to her mom ... and mine ... well, Doreen, mine didn't even look good enough for puppies. It was one big, long, misshapen oddity with holes everywhere. It kept the trash can clean until pick-up day!

I learned to crochet when I was young. Don't know if I can still remember how to crochet, but I do remember liking it.

Linda this post reminded me that I used to knit when I was in my twenties. Wow. Has it been that long ago? I just remembered how calming those times were. Linda, I received crochet hooks for Christmas because I told my family I wanted to learn how this winter...well, spring is almost upon us and those hooks are still in their wrapper! Maybe this class is the push I need! Off to check it out!
