Our move is in high gear right now, as we empty the house and get it ready to sell. It's a huge job, as we have been here nearly 34 years. But we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! A little relaxation is so important right now!
Over the last month, I have spent some of my evenings relaxing
and looking at the lake sunset, while working on a fun project!

I've been working on a paint by number painting of our little pug Sophie!
I sent recently sent this photo of Sophie to Winnie's Picks.
They create premium paint by number kits for adults! There are many BEAUTIFUL ready to paint kits available AND they also offer custom photo to paint by number kits! You can use one of your own favorite photos...
family group, a loved one, your pet, a vacation photo...whatever you like!
I chose this photo of Sophie.
I liked it as she was the dominant subject, with nice lighting. I knew the background carpet would be just that...a background.
When you receive the kit it will be in a rolled tube. The ready to paint kits are shipped in 1-7 days, and the custom photo paint by numbers take 3-4 weeks to create and ship...it was worth the wait. I think it would be a fun Christmas gift idea, so if you're interested in doing that, give yourself a little time.
I received the printed linen canvas, paint brushes and paints.
I had 22 colors and sorted them in a little tray I had. The pots look small, but there was plenty for the painting with a lot left over for future artwork, too.
You can easily just paint on the flat canvas, and frame or display it how you want later. Ready made kits offer a frame add-on. I knew I wanted to hang mine unframed, so I simply bought an inexpensive blank framed canvas at the craft store and stapled my flat linen canvas piece onto it. When I did my painting, I extended the edge colors onto the side for a finished look.
Since it's my painting, I had fun and was creative with it!
I used my tabletop easel, but mostly worked with it flat on a table, so I could turn it all around easily. Look at all of those numbers...beautiful detail!
I loved to relax in the evening with this. It took away the stresses of the day as I quietly focused on my work. You can choose your own way to paint...whatever order you want, or area. I chose to start with number one, and go in order. You will miss some sections, for sure, and go back later...no matter what you do,
or mess up, no one will know the difference.
Slowly, Sophie came to life on the canvas...
And then the painting was finished!
I LOVE how it turned out!
We ended up hanging it on our family gallery wall next to the beautiful oil painting our daughter did of our pug, Bailey, who passed a couple of years ago.
It would be so fun to do a gallery wall in different art styles, of
all six of the wonderful dogs we have had over the years!
I think Sophie approves!
I hope you'll stop by and visit Winnie's Picks!

I used to love doing paint by number paintings as a kid, and that hasn't changed as an adult! I can't wait to do another one!

DeleteLinda, I absolutely love this. How cute an idea for the family for Christmas gifts. I think all your dogs would make a nice wall gallery. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susie! It really would be a fun gift!
DeleteI love your painting and the idea of a gallery wall of your dogs.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol! I have long wanted to have a gallery wall like that!
DeleteWell, how fun! I remember doing paint by number as a child. I don't do much painting now. Every time I pick up a brush I make a big mess.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
It was so fun, Brenda! And they have an "easy" collection for people who want to do a less complicated piece!
DeleteLinda, this is Genius! What a special way to memorialize Sophie❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann! I love the portrait...I need to do more!
DeleteWhat a great job -- it really looks professional! Sophie is a doll. xo Kathleen
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathleen! Sophie has always willingly posed for me!
DeleteI hope your move goes well. I love these kits, particularly the white rose kit. I'm not sure a novice like me could make it look the way it is supposed to though. By the way, Sophie is precious!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I took my time with the painting...found it relaxing! They do have an "easy" collection for people who want something with a little less detail.
DeleteI love this Linda. I want to get one and paint a picture of Buddy. I also want to get one for my daughter so she can do a painting of her dog. These are so cool. I saw this on another fun bloggers site. I cannot believe how nice they come out. Yours of Winnie is so cute. Have a good Labor Day Weekend.
