My husband and I took off for the weekend for a little rest and relaxation! We stopped in at a multi-dealer shop in Fairmont MN called Mixed Nuts . Lots of fun booths with interesting items- and many different styles. I love vintage suitcases and found a decorative one with a charming interior!
I also found some great vintage sewing pieces- an unusual pincushion, I love the almost industrial look- and some great thimbles, spools (I love the shapes and labels on these old beauties), and lace. Look at the vintage engraved safety type golden pin on the pincushion- it was on some millinery flowers I bought there.
A lovely old floral bowl, a trinket box, a couple of old graphic wood blocks, and a wonderful old receipt book from the early 1900's rounded out my finds!
I always love a fun antiquing day! Until next time...
Linda
Antiquing is the best...my past~time..leisure activity of choice :)
ReplyDeleteOoo fun stuff! I just love anything to do with sewing that is vintage. I love the spools you found! I'm still trying to figure out what to do some of my vintage sewing stuff because I wanted to make something that would remind me of my mom. So many things to create and not enough time huh?
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!! I got some good stuff too but your new treasures are amazing!!

You are so lucky your husband likes to go. Mine will go but he complains so I'd rather leave him at home. I LOVE the little spools, they are so cute. I will have to look for you some when I go to Roundtop in the spring....MISSY
ReplyDeleteVery cool stuff. You guys have some great places to shop. Love the inside of that suitcase. Loved that Flea Market mag too, I waited a long time for it & was not dissapointed. Lisa
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds, and I love that pincushion! I've never seen one like it!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Great finds! Love the script on that last item. In this age of block text, its nice to see something beautiful like that.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that suitcase. Looks very similar to one that I have.
ReplyDeleteI have a thing for vintage sewing items too. My mom sewed clothing for a little business when I was growing up. She's now 80 yrs. old and still makes American Girl doll clothes for a craft show each year and aprons for a store in her town. She taught me how to sew when I was a little girl and I have a lot of fond memories of all her sewing stuff. Her Singer featherweight is displayed in my studio and I now have a love for all vintage sewing items. Sorry I rambled on....
I'm going to go visit your etsy shop.
Jane
Great finds! Love it all.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky your hubby will go with you, mine won't. That's ok. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Great stuff on your hunt!

Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. You are right - I do LOVE Sophie and Bailey! When I saw them I just said out loud to my computer, "aawwww!!!" They are so cute and the one (Bailey?) is a little chunker! I just want to hug them both so much. Your blog is just wonderful - so glad you commented so I could find you. Thanks for sharing.
Elizabeth
Brenda sent me.
ReplyDeleteYour current post is the only one I've read - - - so far
I've never seen a spool with the rounded body. What would be wound on this type of spool??
off I go to read more posts.
Hugs,
Gerry
Love your finds! Check out the pin cushion I found last summer. http://brtowsleyblogs.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20pin%20cushion%20up%20close.
ReplyDeleteThere is also another picture where I recovered it. Almost the same exact as yours. I had never seen one like it before.
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog yesterday! I love meeting new people. I love your blog. My mother painted alot, so she would love the paintings :) I love the material you are showing your items on, very pretty!
Such wonderful finds! I have a couple of old suitcases just like that. They're great for storing craft supplies! (Better than huge plastic tubs anyhow). And we also use three stacked high for a little coffee table. I adore that pin cushion as well! Oh if only I could sew then I could justify going out in search of something similar!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful finds! I'm really enjoying your blog. :)
