This past weekend, we traveled to our family lakehome to put in the dock and boat lift...time to get ready for summer fun! We had a cold snap and when we arrived it was very chilly and the lake was choppy...
You can see the wood dock sections and the big metal boat lift...
We weren't able to get anything done on Saturday, so we spent the day indoors and just enjoyed the scenery and watching the wildlife. We had two large pelicans hanging around much of the afternoon...
a pair of Canada Geese with their young...
and lots of ducks and cute ducklings...
The plants are all starting to come up and everything is green- ferns and hostas...
I love the moss growing between the patio blocks...
At sunset, the winds calmed and the sun came out...
The next day was more promising...a lovely Mother's Day morning...warmer and sunny...
We were able to get most of the dock in and will finish up soon- then we can bring the boat back and get it in the lift. It's more work than you would think! But once it's done and the beach is cleaned and set up, we'll be ready for summer boating fun!
Here's a photo from last summer...can't wait!
I posted about the interior decorating on three "Winter at the Lake" posts- you can visit them here, part two, and part three.
Until next time...
Linda
Hi dear Linda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic place to spent summerdayes, and the nature around with all the birds and ducks and.... it looks so wonderfull.
I kind of live here ,like that, with the Baltic Sea in my backgarten, but here you can almost only see the sea, looking on the water, Sweeden is far away, so no beautifull green to see, that way ,.
Wishing you many happy dayes spend in your beautifull summersurroundings.

Linda that is what I call living! We live in a Lake community but do not have our home on the lake...sure wish we did. The good thing is it is seconds away and we do have a boat to enjoy all the amenities. Your place looks fanatastic!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I just felt a tinge of jealousy. What a great place! Enjoy your summer!

ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteI love that patio set. Where did it come from. It reminds me of the vintage ones. Your lake setting is wonderful.
Best,
Robin
Linda,
ReplyDeleteHB is sitting next to me & wants to know which lake? He goes to Leech Lake every summer for a week fishing. Glad Mother's Day turned out beautiful.

Linda, I'm glad that one of your days at the lake was productive, but being able to just hang out there and look out over the lake would be fine by me! I love all of the vintage decor you've used in your beautiful lake house!

Quite chilly and wet here in Iowa too, but with the views you guys have, I'm sure Mother Nature is forgiven...but it's still cold!!!
