More Fun Finds and This and That...
Friday, June 18, 2010
I didn't go to any garage sales this week...too busy...but this morning I stopped by one of my favorite thrift stores to search for a few goodies. I found a bunch of packages of vintage rick rack and seam binding~ I'm always a happy girl when I run into those!
This charming little Swedish wood cutting board is hand painted with an onion motif and the Swedish word for onion...
I always love when I find old hangers~ you can see a post I did about them last year here ...
This vintage hem marker, old Shakespeare book, dog playing cards and this leather key holder were all fun finds...
and look what was inside the key holder...
I love this repro of a 1920's ice cream tin, and this valve and piping~ which is destined for a future project!
This great little paddle will probably end up at the lake...look at the fun logo!
My favorite find of the day was this large rustic handled valve turning wheel~ very heavy and with a fabulous old patina, I'm looking forward to making something special with this (now I just have to think of what)!
Before I go, I thought I'd leave you with a few photos of what's new in the garden! My lilies are beginning to bloom...
and our cherries are beginning to ripen! These are sour pie cherries and make wonderful pie! I like eating them plain, too...as do the birds!
For those of you waiting for the last segment on the Bachman's Summer Ideas House~ I'll be posting it tomorrow!
I'm linking to Debbiedoos Garage Salen Party
Until next time...

ReplyDeleteYour lilies are absolutely GORGEOUS!
Wow! Those keys are awesome and can't wait to see what you do with that last find. Your flowers look great. It is sooo hot here.
ReplyDeleteYou did find some great stuff! What do you do with all the rick rack that you get? Do you use it, or display? I have some and not sure what to do with it. Wow, a real cherry tree! My cousins in Oregon have one too, and I posted a photo of a pie my cousin Kelly made with them...the pie is on my Photobucket slide show. I remember she used vodka in the crust. :-)
ReplyDeleteLinda you had yet another successful venture out!!~ DO you ever not score? So far since I have known you the answer is no!~ My Grandfather used to carry that kind of wallet with his keys in it....what a neat find. Your flowers look awesome! Thanks for joining the party. Have a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteWow Linda, you got some great old stuff! I always find things to re-do at goodwill, but you found some lovely vintage stuff that doesn't even need anything to be done with it...great finds! I LOVED that big wheel you found...just looks like it should be part of an old wishing well or fountain. You were a blessed girl to find the old keys in the keyholder too!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked my little trip to Ohio, we sure had fun....and got to rest a bit too, which is always nice. :)
Hope you have a relaxing and blessed weekend!
Melissa
That key holder and keys reminds me of my dad. Funny, but when I saw it I could actually smell his workshop.
