A Fun Find and This and That...
Friday, July 9, 2010
This week I shopped some fun garage sales~ I thought I'd share my favorite find this week! It's this great old dry sink. Right now it is black with pale gold and a weathered aqua interior. It isn't the original paint, so I don't feel bad about re-painting it. It is going in our porch, so I may keep the great aqua interior and paint it white. I love the black, too, so I am debating...what do you think?
You may remember we are in the process of turning our screen porch and covered patio areas into one large three season room. The screen porch section is enclosed and this week the French doors and windows went into the covered porch section...
After I took this photo, the exterior wall board also went in to enclose this section as well, and we began to open up the two sections into one! The section above will be a dining area. The other section is a living area~ this is what it looks like now...
We have a chippy old wood boat half that I'm not sure how or if it will end up in the room...
I love this vintage folk art windmill...
and old wicker chairs...
My daughter painted this sweet sign...
I call the porch "My Peace Place" because I can totally relax there...it is surrounded by large trees that sound like a waterfall, when the wind blows. It is my inspirational place~ I can wind down there and have taken countless naps on the wicker couch with a pug at my side. I can relax with a book and a cup of coffee, or visit with my husband. I'm looking forward to finishing the project and doing the re-decorating...I'll be sharing pics as we go!
Do you remember my post on Barn Quilts ? On our last trip to the lake, there was a new one!
I love seeing a new one in my travels!

I would paint it white and leave the inside the way it is. I really like it. And your porch is great! I love the eclectic look. It does look alot like mine.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yours,
KarenSue
I think a soft white with the turquoise interior would look great in your room. Your porch looks so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a great room Linda....perfect piece too. We are leaving for our road trip come Monday...and I will be eye spying barn quilts! Thanks for joining in. Debbie
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful porch! I just love porchs...a great place to park a while and catch up on what's happening in the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteYour new find, I agree with the ladies who suggest painting it white and leaving the inside 'as is'. Is/was it a cooler? I can see a water melon cooling on ice there.
Thank you for sharing!
Linda, what a great dry sink you found. That will be perfect in you newly redone room. What fun making a new room.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful porch!! I am green with envy!! I would so love to have a porch like that!! Please keep showing us the progress!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Your dry sink is a real find! My favorite part is the interior! It will look great in your screened in porch, which I love, by the way! I think painting the dry sink white is a great idea. Can't wait for you to show us how you use it! Is it water tight? I was just thinking it would be perfect to fill with ice and drinks, if you are having a party! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteLove the sunroom porch...The ottoman I believe I had a sofa covered in the same fabric, hard to tell the print in photo, but I feel strong it was the same fabric.
It feels a bit english garden farm house cottage what a wonderful mix.
Love your sign as well.
Thank you for becoming a follower, I then can follow you!

PS. Don't you just love Cindy at I owe it all to him!!
That dry sink is fantastic! Love the aqua color on the inside, but I would definitely paint it white. Your porch project looks great too!
ReplyDeletethe view to the outside looks so nice. I would feel relaxed in the porch too. Stopping by to say hello from I owe it all to Him.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love your dreamy porch! That would definitely be a favorite room for me, especially with all the mosquitoes we get around here! The sign your daughter painted is so very sweet! Looking forward to your next porch post. ~ Angela
ReplyDeleteAww, I love your place! We have a screened in porch, but wondering if we should do like you are... I love your wicker and the sign your daughter painted... and the the quilt art...You should frame all your pieces, or make a coffee table book out of them. Have you ever made a book on the computer? I have two, of my grand daughters, they are so cool!

If I had a three season room like that, I would only leave it to go to the bathroom! That dry sink is going to look fantastic in there, and my vote is for white.
ReplyDeleteI just read your January post with the bingo thingie turned into a birdcage. I love it! I recently saw one of those at the flea market, and passed it by. I sure hope it's there again on Sunday!
Happy Weekend!
Carol
Linda, I must say that you live in a very inspiring place, wonderful pictures, thanks for visiting my blog and for nice comment.

I love that dry sink. While it currently looks good painted black, I would paint it white for the porch. I like the soft turquoise, so I would leave that as is. I think it will be a perfect addition to the porch. Great find!!

Hi Linda! Such a soothing place to relax. I would love to sit here, feel the winds, and watch the trees blow...very serene. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWon't that room be wonderful when your done! I love the box, I'm a white shabby girl, so you can guess what color I would paint it, there is no black in my house!
ReplyDeleteCarol

Just visiting from debbiedoos party! I really like the dry sink! I like the black but probably a lighter color would look better in your bright and cheerful sunroom. Thanks for sharing and I've never seen a barn quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove the dry sink! I vote on white and leave the inside the way it is. And worse case if you change your mind you can always repaint it black. Great porch it looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteHey Linda ~
ReplyDeleteI have tagged you with a blog award for being a "Versatile Blogger", please come by my blog and see...
PS - white - definitely white
I'm lovin' that dry sink. I love the black...that's the color I paint everything. Well, that an lime green. If I did change the color it would be to a soft brown because of the inside color(which is awesome!!) I need to yard sale with you!
ReplyDeleteWow! You have some great finds and a very talented daughter!
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda! What a great find at a garage sale, no less! I'm a little partial to white, but that's just me (from someone who has a white interior with only black accents). Be sure to show us the final piece!
