Fun Finds and a New Barn Quilt...
Friday, August 27, 2010
The weather is cooler here now and with the wedding over, I was able to get out to a couple of garage sales this week! Only a few finds to share this week...I love this BIG basket with its decorative handle! It will be wonderful holding some of my itsy bits and pieces at Junk Bonanza- maybe with lots of old clothespins or full of ephemera word cards...
This apples and berries plate will be so pretty for fall...
and the lovely old crocheted cloth under it was a find this week, too...
I always loving finding old clay pots~ they have a nice patina~ all for $1! The little dictionary in the picture with them, is full of wonderful pages and illustrations~ ready for scanning and artwork!
One of the most fun finds this week was found as we returned home from the wedding~ another barn quilt!
I took the photos from a distance...and when I was loading the photos, noticed there was another barn quilt on the side building! If you missed my original post about barn quilts, you can see it here . I've also written about others I've seen in the past, as well~ see my labels list, if you are interested. Be sure to check out Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail a great blog about barn quilts!
I'll get a better pic of that one next trip!
I am joining~
Debbiedoos Garage Salen Party
Treasures and Trinkets Thursday
A BIG thank you to all of you~ I really appreciate all of your kind comments and good wishes...
Until next time...
Linda

ReplyDeleteHi Linda....I would love four plates like that one for my kitchen come fall! Great baskets too. Do you believe I still have not seen a barn quilt, and I looked on our last road trip. Of course we where heading to Florida...not a lot of barns there. Have a great weekend. Debbie

I love your basket, Linda! Looks like it was hand crafted, even better! And that crocheted cloth is a great find, too! The apple plate puts me in the mood for fall, as it's feeling a bit more like fall here now, thankfully!
ReplyDeleteBarn quilts! Cool! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat finds. I love that barn quilt. It's not something we're likely to see here in California.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Ok thats it I am going with you on your finding excursions. We have some barn quilts here I love seeing them as I drive around. Your basket is just beautiful. Have a great weekend I look forward to your next finds.

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post about barn quilts. I have never seen one here in the south-east.
Hi Linda, I love the plate and the tablecloth! THose barn quilts sure seem to hunt you down, don't they?!! I would love to see just one!! Take care, Julie
ReplyDeleteOh what fun those barn quilts are. I would have guessed that you were in Amish country...in Pennsylvania! Some of the quilts on your previous barn quilt post look almost like the Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs. I love them both!

I love the basket you found. I sure wish I could make it up your way for Junk Bonanza. I guess I'll just have to see it through your blog (so make sure and take plenty of pics).
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Love your use of the word patina for dust, dirt and grime on clay pots. Patina sounds much more dignified.
ReplyDeleteThose barn quilts can sneak up on you, or totally hide. I am still looking without luck. Another reason I wish I was headed your way for some fun Junkin'.
(Won't happen this year.)
