A Simple Project Day...
Thursday, September 9, 2010
I am loving the cooler fall weather in our area and have started some fall decorating! Today I decided to do a simple project that I will use when I decorate for Halloween! I wanted to make a pennant banner...I started with a vintage bingo card and used it as my pattern for the other pennants...
I used old papers and scans of ephemera...
an old typewriter lesson book had many styles of type and provided lots of fun pieces...
sheet music and bingo cards worked well, too. I backed the thinner paper pennants with cardstock to make them more sturdy.
I used these vintage game letter cards~ they are cute, smaller than standard playing cards, and perfect for my project! The Halloween set is available in my etsy store for $2, but you could also use letters you cut out or print from the computer...
I backed them with black cardstock to accent the letters against the patterned back papers...
I punched two holes in each pennant and threaded old seam binding through the openings- you could also use ribbon, jute, yarn, etc...
I like simple graphic designs, but these could easily be much more decorated with fringed crepe paper or other embellishments...I think it'll be a fun decoration for Halloween!
NOTE~ the following giveaway has now ended...
This is my 100th post! I have had such a great time blogging and visiting with all of you! I am having a quick little giveaway~ you don't need to do anything except leave a comment on this post to be entered. I'll draw from the comments before my next post on Saturday and the winner will receive a fun little ephemera pack with fall colors, goodies, and one of the "HALLOWEEN" letter sets! And you don't have to be a follower to enter (make sure I have an email address to reach you, though), but I'd love to have you as a follower, too!
NOTE~ This giveaway has ended~ the winner was Jan of Bobbypins Boardwalk!
I am linking to Vintage Inspiration Friday
and The French Cupboard's Autumn Art Party
Until next time...
