I am always inspired by vintage ephemera! This week I worked on a new collage piece! I used a 9 x 12 canvasboard base and created many layers. Many scans of my old ephemera were used~ The decorative border edges were from a 1872 map, and I topped that using the vintage French floral cards I found recently. Vintage sheet music, and an old French postcard were next, with a piece of wide cotton eyelet edging with ribbon, vintage rickrack, and buttons bordering the lower section...
I used one of The Graphics Fairy's Fairy Sheet Music graphics for the Fairy Whispers lettering...
and one of her pretty butterfly graphics, as well! A worn metal office clip holds a vintage French vocabulary card~ une etoile~ "star"...
A fun vintage punched tin star Christmas light reflector is topped with a little clock gear and an old typewriter letter, and I scattered old gummed stars around the fairy!
Finally, I topped it off by adding a vintage flash card word "believe"...
I was happy with the whimsical and three dimensional feeling of the piece! I am linking up to~

ReplyDeleteI think I've decided to make fried green tomatoes and pinto beans for one meal with my tomatoes....and then maybe try grilling some more. I'll probably make some soup too! :) I love tomatoes and I really DREAD when all my garden ones are gone and I'm reduced to eating the ones in the super market again. Ack!
Hope you have a great week...ohhh, almost weekend..I can feel it coming! :)
Hugs!!

That is too cute! You really have an eye for putting things together; and you are smart to copy the images first! I've made the mistake before of not copying them and once it's gone, it's gone! I'm either too impatient or too cheap to use up my ink cartridges. I love the french floral cards!!
ReplyDeleteOh my this is lovely; thanks for inspiring me to create!

ReplyDeleteLinda, this is truly beautiful. I love this collage -- there is so much to look at and enjoy. The interest is in all the lovely little details. Do you use your actual pieces of originals maps, etc., or do you scan and copy them? Just curious on the procedure. I love it. Thank you so much for linking to the Boardwalk Bragfest. When do I get you to guest post for me, girl? haha (((((((((hugs))))))))))))
