Fun Finds...Lovely Old Books...
Wednesday, January 26, 2011
I had a few fun finds this week~ look at these two lovely old books! White books with floral decoration are my favorite! I found these at Half Price Books. If you have one near your home, you might not have thought of looking there, but they have a section of antique and collectible books. Some are pricey, but others are quite reasonable~ these were $3 and $4. I love the title of this charming book~ Tanglewood Tales...
Such lovely irises...
and a beautiful old inscription...
The second book has charming pink and blue flowers... so pretty...
I found another book online~ an artist handbook from the 30's! It is a fabulous reference book of lettering styles, frames, borders, etc! I already have some projects in mind inspired from this great book!
Beautiful marbleized end papers...
One last find this week... this cute little vintage leather coin purse, I never pass those up!
Hope you had some fun finds this week, too!
I am joining~

Until next time...

There isn't a Half Price Books anywhere near my home, so I am living through your post and drooling over your finds! The graphics in them are so pretty (as well as the covers). Isn't it fun to find something when you're not looking for it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...I'm happy for your 'find'!
Hugs

Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThose books are really lovely, I adore old books, too. Don't you love the different fonts that the one has?
Hugs, Cindy
The inscription on the first book is just too sweet!

ReplyDeleteFabulous finds Linda. I have a HP Books near, but have not seen anything like these! I'll have to look harder.
ReplyDeleteI love those books Linda! They are so pretty and I just love them even more when they have writing in them. One of these days I'm going to get out all my old books and try to learn how to write in the old, beautiful way. It may sound silly, but I'm thinking it would be fun!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great finds, I especially like the studio artist one. It will be neat to see what you do with these.

Oh I just love these Linda! The covers are beautiful and THIS is the reason I will never own an e-reader! I got hubby a Nook for his birthday and he loves it, but to me, there is nothing like the feel of real pages new or vintage. You will NEVER find this on a Nook. (I'm done preaching now) :-) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose books are absolutely gorgeous Linda! I love books and I can't believe you found such beauties at Half Price Books...I can see that I need to make a visit there :)

That studio handbook is an awesome find! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the new banner....LOVE IT! I think it really represents your style well. We are so alike on stuff it's scary. I just bought some amazing books at 1/2 Price books myself. I think I've blogged about them before & am amazed that so many don't know about them. Of course they are not everywhere I guess. I only buy vintage books at garage sales, estate sales or 1/2 Price. They are based here in Dallas & the main store is 3 stories high, can you imagine?! I've spent an entire day there before. Gosh, this comment turned into a rant. Anyway, also read your previous post & the pie looks yummy! Love that MJ Butters, she has really kept up with the trends hasn't she? Have a great weekend.
Lisa
