A Simple Project...
Monday, July 18, 2011
There have been so many beautiful, creative studios on blogs this week! Mine was NOT one of them! My studio is another of my MANY "works-in-progress"! But I've been inspired by all the great spaces I've seen and decided to do a project to begin to organize some of the ephemera I have! Items that I have a lot of, like bingo cards, are stored in large metal wire baskets, but I need storage for many of the one-of-a-kind pieces and supplies. I had a couple of these inexpensive rolling storage carts, which I assembled...
and a big stash of stickers and rub-on letters...
which I used to label the drawers. I mixed up the fonts and didn't want perfection...
I think it gave the shelves a whimsical look...
I've started sorting all my paper goodies...easy accessibility and nice flat storage...
It's inspired me to keep going in the space! Thanks to all the bloggers sharing their great spaces! Maybe by next year...I'll be ready to share mine LOL!
I am joining Savvy Southern Style's Wow Us Wednesday
Until next time...
Linda

What a great start Linda! My studio is a work in progress too so I totally understand. I did put a couple pics on my blog of mine, but it isn't up for a full reveal!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I love this idea. I too need to get my studio in order. Your storage system will work wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteOk, now I need you to come over and help me get organized! haha! Love your carts, everything looks so neat and orderly! Hope you are feeling better:)
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteLove this storage idea. I never know what to do with all the bits and pieces of ephemera either...right now they are everywhere. I like how you decided to store them by subject matter. I may just steal your idea for my craft room. Thanks for sharing!
Cheryl
Mine is a work in progress too! I make such a mess in there when I work, that I wouldn't show it to anyone at the moment. I have been trying to organize it for over two weeks now but summer here has been pretty busy so I am doing it as I can. Not having it finished before the party has also given me so many ideas and inspiration! I'll meet you there next year! t. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea! I love the lettering, Linda.

HI Linda,
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and I like all the different fonts. I definitely think the hardest thing for me to organize is all the ephemera (and how to categorize all of it). I have some drawers similar to that from my scrapbooking days. I think I'm going to follow your lead!
Jane
Oh, that looks like a great set-up. I keep seeing everyone's creative spaces and it makes me want one.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm always looking for ways to keep stuff together and I may have to "borrow" your idea. I don't have a studio, so it's fun to look at those who do!
ReplyDeleteKeep cool, it's going to be bad today and tomorrow!!!
Deb :)
Linda, I saw all those studios too and I think you will definitely be a contender next year! I like that you mixed the fonts up on labeling your drawers - adds some fun to the look. Ann
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love being organized, what a great ideas. I have had so much fun looking at peoples studios also!
ReplyDeleteCarol
What a great idea! I'll have to check those out.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I really need to get organized in my craft room. Can't even find anything I'm looking for. Gets kind of frustrating. You've been inspiring. Mimi
ReplyDeleteVery nice!! I just clean out and organized my sons room. What a nightmare! My head feel less cluttered now if that makes any sense! lol!
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized, I am jealous. I am so NOT organized! I like the way you have labeled the drawers, it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Love it! SOME day, you will post your creative space!

Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteYou are really getting organized. I am sure it will feel great when the studio is completed.
Wishing you a wonderful day!
hugs, Sharon
Those rolling carts are a great idea for organizing. Good start!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! I was going to use an old file cabinet and paint it but this is so much better. Can I ask where you got the carts? I love how you did the letters. They look so cool! I am in desperate need of organizing ephemera, if you know what I mean (except that right now, my basement is getting fixed because it flooded during the last storm!!!)
We are in the Black Hills and having beautiful weather...whew! I heard that the weather had improved in the Twin Cities...hooray! We will be here for ten days of friends and pine trees. Jud's school buddies are having a gathering for him.
So you did really well this week...very creative in it's own way and many of us needed some guidance. I promise not to copy you exactly because I am trying to be creative (and ethical ;-))
Fondly,
Suz (aka "Big Jugs")
I love it, love the mixed up fonts!! And every time I'm in my office (which is my dream to finish!!) I see your stash you sent and it makes me happy=)
ReplyDeleteThanks again,
Hollie
Hey beautiful lady! :) I'm sorry I gave you garden envy! lol My little garden isn't putting out as much as it normally does, so don't have too much garden envy..I haven't gotten one green pepper and I usually have enough to freeze! Ugh! My veggies have been yummy though!
ReplyDeleteI love your little rolling carts...where did you pick those up? Some day(when Lincoln leaves home..HA!) I'm going to turn his room into a craft/sewing studio, so I'd like to have some of those carts! Right now most of my stickers/flat papers, are in a rolling scrapbooking caddy. It works great, but some day I'd like to have everything more accessible. :)
Hope you have a great day!!
Love YA!
Missy
I love the
ReplyDeletemixed up fonts,
Linda! My own
work space has
been an albatross
around my neck.
It really needs
attention. Thanks
for the inspiration!

PS: We need to get
our next expedition
on the calendar....
I love this idea, especially how you interchanged cap and lower case letters for a fun look. And you're right, this is a simple but oh-so-punchy fun project. I plan to copy your idea.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your etsy store and mentioned your blog in my blog on BabyCenter.
Here's the link:

ReplyDeleteWow, that's a great way to know where your pictures are!!! I love it...My studio is all over the house!!! No one would want to see a picture!! lol

Cindy
I love that storage unit...nice flat, easy to access drawers. I need one, or two, or three. Love what you did with the letters. I'm thinking maybe next year I'll have a presentable space to share.
ReplyDeleteWow! How gorgeously organized! I am inspired!!!! X
ReplyDeleteLinda, you and me both! I've just begun to redo the space where I sew/quilt/craft. I have been really inspired by gals who shared their creative spaces with us. Your new labeled drawer system is looking good. Can't wait to see what you do next. I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteOH WOW Linda, that was clever, and so organized now. I need to be doing stuff like this soon.
