A Simple Project...Thanks, Manuela!

Have you seen this WONDERFUL project for barnwood letters from the talented Manuela over at A Cultivated Nest? If not, you'll want to click on the link and see her fun, easy, and looks-oh-so-good project! She used chipboard letters and scrapbooking paper! I thought this was such a great idea and was inspired to make some letters for my own home, using a little different spin! I couldn't find the chipboard letters here, so used 12" high, brown kraft mache-type paper letters. I decided not to paint them as I really like the look of the kraft paper for the sides and back.

I used some fun scrapbooking papers, tracing around the letters on the paper, cutting them out, and adhering with decoupage medium.

The letter H is covered in burlap paper...

the O in a faded houndstooth pattern...

the M in a wonderful cable knit sweater paper!

And the E is covered in a distressed polka dot paper...

I love how they turned out...and I still want to do some letters with that barnwood paper, Manuela...maybe "LAKE" at our family's lake cottage? Thanks for the inspiration!

Sweet and easy project Linda. You know I love those funeral flower baskets in your previous posts. I have actually taken bodies to the morgue in one of those carts when I was a RN in a large teaching hospital.

I have loved looking at the papier mache letters in the craft stores... like you, the appeal is the brown craft paper covering. Great way to make this project your own with your paper choices! By the way, I just became your latest follower after your leaving that sweet comment on mine! For the life of me, I can't figure out why I hadn't done that sooner! Can't wait to keep up and also... I will be at Junk Bonanza!!! Where will you be located? I would love to meet you in person!
