You know I love a simple re-do project! Well, I picked up this tote at the thrift store this week...someone's shop project..and decided a makeover was in order! First, a five minute rustic wash of white paint...
I decided to try a transfer technique on this, something I've wanted to experiment with, but never have~ I know, I'm late to the party! The WONDERFUL Karen over at The Graphics Fairy has a great resource for transferring images (click on the photo to visit)...
I chose one of her graphics- a French Patisserie (Pastry Shop) Sign - perfect for what I needed. I used the reverse image as I wanted to try the wax paper transfer technique. I used a great tutorial she linked to, by Angela of Unexpected Elegance. This was such a fun and easy technique...one thing that helped me a lot was using a few pieces of double face tape to attach the wax paper to printer paper. The paper went through the printer easily that way, and I followed the rest of the simple tutorial. On my painted piece, I didn't need to dampen the surface.
It transferred so nicely...
I used this design on one side...
and on the other side, I enlarged part of the sign and used it for a simple "Patisserie" graphic!
It was just what I was looking for to hold some special goodies...
I'm looking forward to trying more of this technique!
I am joining Debra at Common Ground's
Until next time...
Wow-That turned out REALLY great! I have never tried that method before. It looks like it works beautifully. Wonderful job!!! xo Diana
