I haven't been able to get out to do much treasure hunting lately, but I do have a few fun finds to share! I did a booth re-set at my antiques space at Pond Road Antiques in Mankato MN after Christmas...and one of the dealers had something I hadn't seen before...
These are old lettering stencils...they are framed in wood and measure about 10" x 6-1/2". I bought five of them. Take a look at some of the wonderful old fonts...so graphic!
Have you ever seen anything like them before? I'd love to know how they were used!
Another graphic find was from the thrift store...this lovely old German oil and vinegar set! I think it is so beautiful...it's one of those things that still takes me by surprise when I find it on the shelf!
I am really looking forward to getting out of the house
and doing some thrifting again SOON!

Really interesting finds and unusual too l would think, thanks for sharing, Pam :-)
ReplyDeleteYour stencils are fabulous with their nicely aged frames! I think I would fall over if I found those vinegar & oil bottles in our thrift store! Love them!! My friend got a whole set of about 16 for $20. She couldn't believe her luck either.
ReplyDeleteWhat unique and wonderful finds! Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteLove the stencils. I've no idea how they might have been used. Do the frames look original to the stencils? Maybe they fit into a machine like that... for printing.
ReplyDeleteThe bottles are pretty too!

Linda, I love those stencils, I bet they were used by someone in the sign trade, but I don't have a clue. And the oil and vinegar bottles are very cool, the graphic design is wonderful.

I adore both of these finds! Especially the stencils. Never seen anything like it and I'm having trouble being a bit jealous. Love fonts and lettering!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I am so curious to know how they were used. Happy Thrifting!
ReplyDeleteI love those font signs. How unique, I have never seen anything like them. Perhaps they hung in an old printing shop to show the different fonts available? Or for cross-stitched sampler patterns? No matter what, they are fabulous! Ann
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like them before either, Linda. What fun finds! And I love the oil & vinegar set, the colors are wonderful!

I LOVE the stencils! I've never seen anything like them but they are just the sort of things that would catch my eye as well. :) The oil and vinegar set is very pretty. You always find the best stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the lettering...since they aren't cut all the way through (they appear to be pressed into the metal) I wonder if those were samples used to show various styles of font?
Oh how cool! I've never seen anything like them. The would be a great addition to a space. Love them.
ReplyDeleteWow Linda, those letters in metal are so interesting! I wonder if someone just framed them, but could they not have been used by putting paper over a letter and doing a pencil rub kind of thing? Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I've never seen anything like them before.
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! I love anything graphic! Reminds me to go snoop your shop, haven't been in awhile.
