Last week my daughter and I had a fun thrifting day...
we had some fun finds including a couple for my dining room hutch.
we had some fun finds including a couple for my dining room hutch.
I love the delicate floral motif and crazing on this lovely old English platter...
My favorite find of the day was this beautiful embroidered runner (I have it folded in half in the photo). It is only 40 years old, but done in an old Norwegian style. The text is a name and From Olen, which was a Norwegian town incorporated in the early 1900s. I've hung it from a drawer on the front on my hutch.
I think I found some wonderful little treasures!
Have you had any fun finds lately?
I am joining~
Until next time...
It is so fun to find cool vintage items and then add them to one's home! Looks great, Linda!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you have your daughter to thrift with you. So far my kids say they aren't into "old stuff" :( Someday??
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful finds Linda! I love your hutch with all your pretties.
ReplyDeleteThat runner is gorgeous, Linda! What a great find! I feel like I deserve a trip to the thrift store(s); I haven't been in quite a while. I don't even want to think what I'm missing out on!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was a lucky day for you. That runner is so charming and the plate looks wonderful in your hutch.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely things you and your daughter have found, love that beautiful English platter. The table runner (or perhaps what we call a "pyntehåndkle" - decorative kitchen tea towel - if the design is on one end only) reads "Greetings from Ølen (Oelen). Blue and white are my favourite colours. Looks lovely where you have hung it. Pam xx
ReplyDeleteThe platter and runner are absolutely beautiful, Linda! I never have this sort of luck and I also gravitate to linens and china. Maybe I need to scout out some new shops! Good for you! :)

You have some beautiful finds. I love the platter and the runner-- both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou asked if I had any new finds... does just finding out that 1974 was a whopping 40 years ago, count? LOL... you said it was only 40 years old..then I read the date, I had to read it a couple of times, for it to sink in.
What happened? time flies when we are having fun collecting old things, I guess!
Pat

So Nice, Linda! That linen is so pretty. I actually went to an Estate Sale today, but only picked up some pillow cases - very plain, but 100% cotton- while there. I always enjoy the whole experience, so it was a fun stop. Ann
