You know I love a simple little re-do project!

I decided to give it a little facelift...First I gave it a coat of a light taupe paint, followed by a medium gray. Then I gave it a wash of burnt umber, and wiped off the excess.
I distressed the finish with a sanding block and sealed with matte varnish. Then I found this great old label graphic from The Graphics Fairy and decided to use it on the tray. It has such a wonderful old look with the discolorations and wear. I printed it...
Then I cut it out and tore some of the edges.

It reminds me of an old barrel lid...

This is so cute, Linda! The detail is really cool!
ReplyDeleteI may start making some banners for Christmas. I had some friends and family members really like the "Merry Christmas" on burlap that I did for myself, Nothing like the present to make presents!

Oh that turned out so neat! I like the aging you added to the label and how it wrinkled ...like it's been there a while!
ReplyDeleteI'm not working on anything fun! hmmmpphhh...!
Love it! I buy trays at thrifts ALL the time. I use them in all sorts of different ways. Love what you did with this one!

ReplyDeleteI love it! I need to write down your great ideas and look for these pieces. I'm not creative enough to envision.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love the cute quick make over. It looks so much nicer too. I think we need to do more make overs of old things instead of throwing them away.. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHow clever you are, Linda! I've got a similar tray with a hideous orange-red painted surface and I've done nothing to change it up. Maybe someday I'll give one of those transfer methods a try. I love the way you aged your graphics!
ReplyDeleteLinda it turned out so cute and it looks fairly simple. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so cute! I have seen so many people use The Graphics Fairy for cute projects. I should try it myself.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun tray project, Linda! I would be lost without the Graphics Fairy:)
ReplyDeleteIt really does look vintage now! I love this! I don't think you can have too many trays....Right now I am spending hours altering gowns for my son's wedding party. My fingers ache. xo Karen
