Now that we are officially into the Christmas decorating season, I thought I'd share some whimsical ideas I've been working on out in the sunporch!
This post is sponsored by Shutterfly...all opinions are my own.
I bought a roll of white Kraft paper at the craft store (inexpensive, in the party aisle...this stuff makes great wrapping paper, too). I had thought about doing black paper with white for a chalkboard look, but decided to go with a different look. Adding a length of paper to the table and using a marker to write Jingle Bells song lyrics around the edge,
makes a quick and easy table covering...
nothing perfect about this writing...
A feather-type tree makes a whimsical centerpiece...
I love this cute vintage cloth mat...
and this sweet retro church music box.
Vintage planters are always great on a table...
I love this simple little project...I ordered a bunch of prints of family photos from Shutterfly and used them to make whimsical place cards for our Christmas gathering. I made simple wire wrap photo holders, looped them onto different sizes of bottle brush trees, and cut out faces from the prints. When a party isn't going on, you can use this simple DIY trick to display your Christmas cards!
I have a forest of 15 trees made...I think everyone will have fun with these!
I found these vintage ornaments at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago...always one of my FAVORITE finds...and love how they look together in a bowl...
Little trucks are always a charming decoration, especially when paired with a tree...
I made this sign...love the colors and the graphic look...
Makes a great focal point over the French doors...
A wood peg rack, turned vertically, makes a great place to hang skates or scarves...
A champagne bucket holds a poinsettia...
Vintage flashcards are always fun accents...
I hope you found some ideas to inspire you!

What a fun way to decorate, Linda! My favorite is the sign you painted for over your doors. The letters look like old billboard letters from afar. I've got that same wind-up church!
ReplyDeleteLinda...I found so many great ideas here...the white Kraft paper (never knew what aisle, and do you find it too heavy to wrap with? Any tips?). Love how you used it here! The ornaments in the bowl are cute...I've bypassed them many times as I have my parents. But those go on the tree, it would be nice to have some vintage ones to display like this. Love the red letters above the door and the poinsettias in the champagne bucket! Love everything actually! :)
ReplyDeleteI went to a neat place today where a couple not only do events with their vintage things but advertise on Facebook. My daughter and I had a ball today...I will post soon, I think you'd like it. You are a true "vintage gal"!!!
Thanks also for your visits! :)

I love your whimsical touches. You sort of have a retro theme going on. I love the old ornaments together and the vintage flash cards. The sign that you made to go over your french doors is probably my favorite though! You did a great job. It's the first thing I saw too.
ReplyDeleteLove the sign over the french doors. Your decorations look so festive and just add a nice vi take touch!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your posts. I love the idea of covering the table and writing the song. Cute! Your room is adorrrrable. I've been looking for an old truck to carry my brush tree. Ugh. I couldn't find one and had to break down and buy a new one. Just not the same effect.
ReplyDeleteSo many great ideas, Linda!! I adore your vintage Christmas decor...from the table with that wonderful old truck carrying the tree to the sled flashcard, the bottlebrush trees, vintage skates on the hooks and on and on and on...
