A Little Change in the Kitchen...

This week I've been doing a little rearranging in our kitchen/dining area...all because of a new blender. I wanted to make space on the counter, as it will be used daily, so I decided to move some of my large glass canister jars.
Now, where to put them?

I've been using this vintage wood topped typewriter table in our dining area...

bread boards

Moving the table into the kitchen would provide extra storage.
The wood top has a great patina...

There is an open space on the lower part of the cart that was perfect for a shelf.  Using a scrap piece of our flooring, which fit perfectly through the legs, I painted it with colors to match the top, then distressed and waxed it.

The shelf became a perfect place to keep a few cookbooks
that I had been wanting to put out...

I re-used the vintage scale and three of my canisters on the top shelf.  The cabinet and drawer off to the side hold items that aren't used frequently...
and the cart can be rolled away when necessary.

Back in the dining room...I brought in three vintage baskets.
They provide extra storage...

and I put the tote of bread boards back here, too.  I flipped it around... I had done a different design on the other side...

And where did the little pig end up?  Over on my hutch...

You move one thing...well, you know how that goes...

Until next time...

  13. I'm in love with your sweet little pig. Is he a door stopper? Sometimes it's good to move things around. It changes the whole perspective.

  14. Your little typewriter table is getting a good workout! I find my picnic baskets to be sort of dangerous. I can hide soooo much stuff in them!

  18. Your typewriter table is just perfect for extra storage in your kitchen! Each year the local hospital that we are affiliated with holds a silent auction for things they are getting rid of. There was a lovely green typewriter table that they removed from our clinic to auction off. Well, it somehow disappeared before the day of the auction, and when I inquired about it I was told that it was broken and disposed of. Hmmm, I smell a rat!! I love all the changes that you've made!

  22. Linda...you make me smile. I DO know what it's like to move one thing and before you know it...you have a new room! :)

The typewriter table in your kitchen is great...functional and so cute. Adding the shelf was so smart. It's helpful with your canisters and they look displayed. I use flour so much and I keep it in a cabinet...I think it wouldn't matter if I added more clutter by putting it in a glass jar like yours. Were did you find these with the chalkboard label?

Thanks always for stopping by..your comments mean a lot! :)

  23. I have been going through the same thing all weekend - rearranging stuff because of "one little thing"! I love how you repurposed the cart and even thought of adding a shelf for your cookbooks. Very clever.

  24. Your clever changes look fantastic. I really need to get my self going and start putting my house back together now that I have Christmas all packed up and stored away. My house has just been sitting for two weeks, all bare and sad looking! LOL.
