Two Simple Little Paint Makeover Projects...

We are getting ready for a painting project here~ our stairway and entryway!  We will be using the paint colors we used in our kitchen project.  I am so looking forward to brightening up the area!  But I've been doing a couple of little painting projects, too, and thought I'd share those with you today!  Both projects used DecoArt American Chalky Finish paint in Everlasting, followed up with their Clear Wax...

On my last post, I shared some thrift store finds!  I also found this wood piece for 69 cents...

The way it is routed out on the top makes it perfect for holding a cloche.  It may even have come from an anniversary clock.  I'm sure you probably may know this, but broken anniversary clocks are inexpensive sources for cloches and bases. Often the cloche tops are acrylic and you don't have to worry about breakage.
A quick rustic coat of paint, and it was ready to go...

I used a cloche top from an old anniversary clock, a found bird's nest and feather, and faux eggs.  As a backdrop I used a charming page from a child's primer...

Very, very simple...

The second project was re-doing a painted plant stand I've had for years.  It is rustic and painted dark green.  It doesn't go with our home, except to use it at Christmas time, and it hasn't sold in sales either...so I decided to paint it so I would actually use it.

A quick coat of paint, and it had new life around here!  I added a thrifted galvanized bucket, full of dried hydrangea I had picked last fall...
*LOVE*

I know I will get lots of use from these two projects!  Working on any little projects for your home?  I'd love to hear about them!

I am a blogger for DecoArt and they provided the product used in these projects...
all opinions are my own.

Until next time...

  1. How do like the Americana Chalky paint? Where do you buy it? The clock glass made a great cloche for display. Nice and tall!

    1. I love the Chalky Paint...so easy to use, and the wax is, too. It's inexpensive and works great. You can find it many places...craft stores, Home Depot, etc. Their website
has lots of hints and ideas and I have a link on my sidebar for a free idea e-book, too!

  2. I love your little projects, Linda! Sometimes those are the best kind because you get instant gratification from completing them. I love your cloche and that wood piece worked out to be a great base. I have picked up round wooden "discs" from time to time at the thrift store or yard/estate sales and they always come in handy as bases (especially for cloches). I also like to raise them up a little bit with those small wood pillar candle holders. I attach them with wood glue and they make for a nice raised base that is sturdy. Just another way to use them for a cloche.

  6. Linda...I love both of these...you gave me ideas for under my cloches. I'm pretty bad at that! The little table is so cute and perfect for the pail of hydrangeas. I have used this paint from Home Depot, I never knew they had wax, too. Will be looking for it! Thanks!

  8. I just love what you did with that cloche, both the paint and the styling. I have also become a fan of the American chalk paint. I usually pick it up at my local Michaels. I am planning to use it to paint an old corner hutch that is currently an orange-y pine color, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I think your post may have been the inspiration I needed to get started! Have a great weekend!

  10. Love the Cloche and the theme for it. Classy. :) The table is fabulous. Can't believe it didn't sell...it was meant to be that you keep it. The bucket with the dried hydrangea is perfect. Looking forward to your next post. Thanks so much for stopping by EA. Means so much that you would take the time. :)

  12. The cloche is beautiful! My grandmother used to love hanging clothes on the line, and your plant stand reminds me of the stand my grandfather built for her to put her clothes basket on, so she didn't have to bend down so far... the coat of paint made it really nice!

  15. I've had a glass cloche for a few years and now I know what to look for to use as a base. The wood piece you found is perfect and I love the items you chose to display inside! I've got a red plant stand very similar to your formerly green one that I use in the living room during the holidays. I can't wait to see what you're doing to your house!

  16. Love your relaxed carefree beauty here, the cloche, the mini cabinet, and the homemade looking plant stand is a favorite of mine. Could even display a bust on it.

Inspired now! I am off to tweak some things in my home :)

    Beautiful weekend to you.
