This week I had a little fun with a simple re-use project!
I always enjoy taking a discarded piece and turning it into something useful!
As we have been moving pieces to the lake, I've been going through things...deciding how to re-use them, or whether to get rid of them. Many of my picnic baskets have been given new use...as toy boxes in a big cabinet.
It's decorative and hides the clutter. One of the baskets had
this insert which I didn't want to use in the basket anymore.

I liked the look of the legs and thought I could do something with this piece.
I started by rustically painting the legs, underside, and edges with white craft paint. Then I thought of the vintage Swedish tiles I had found at the
thrift store for 99 cents each, and had been keeping for a project.

Great colors and folk art patterns...
I spaced them on the top of the stand...they fit perfectly on the ends, and had a one inch overhang on the sides. I glued them down with E-6000, and placed a weight on top overnight. A simple project and it makes a fun serving stand!
You can see the size in this photo with an ironstone platter and pitcher.
I love the whimsical cheery look it gives to breakfast...like these banana muffins...
New life for thrift store finds!
Until next time...
