One thing I always hunt for when I'm out at thrift stores?
Candlesticks.
Wood or metal, they can be expensive to buy new, and are
often available very inexpensively at thrift stores.
Recently I found these wooden candlesticks...I actually found a pair of the one on the right. I liked the shapes, but the finishes were worn and scratched.
I used a DecoArt Americana acrylic craft paint called Driftwood,
kind of a greige color, on the pair.
I like the farmhouse style look they have now.
I mixed up a couple of different red paint colors to get a color I thought would be pretty for Christmas decorating, for the other candlestick.
So simple and inexpensive, but it makes a statement now.
My paintbrush has been getting a workout with that red color lately, as I've been painting pieces that will soon be in my Christmas decor!
It's an easy way to bring in a new look!
Until next time...
They turned out really nice! I'm back! Trying to get back to blogging, miss you and Deb, maybe next summer! Hope all is well!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that red color! I'm really starting to get excited about Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing, Linda. I have been known to spray paint anything that stands still in front of me long enough. lol I really like that driftwoodish color.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had red for Christmas in a couple of years but I feel it calling me back. lol xo Diana
Linda, So very pretty and thrifty young lady. I am thinking now, I need to get busy making me some red candlestick. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, you can use them for so much!! We have a great thrift store in town which is unfortunately only open in the warmer months as there is no heat....I find I always get sooooo overwhelmed when I go in there, there are what feels like millions of things to look through!
