Under the Weather and This Week in the Garden...

The summer cold bug is at our house and after watching other family members, I figure I have another three days of feeling under the weather.  Today I took 4 naps and read some good books...Terry John Woods Summer House, and Fifi O'Neill's Romantic Prairie Style.  Since I have little going on, I thought I'd share some pretties blooming in the garden this week!  The first of my hydrangeas have begun to bloom!  I've had trouble getting my bushes to bloom in the past, but this year they have quite a few!  These dry beautifully, too...

There are many colors of astilbe...

and several varieties of lilies, too...

When I took these photos, I spotted a pair of mourning dove babies under a bush...every so often mama arrives to feed them!

Until next time...I'll be resting and reading...
Linda

  6. Hey sweet lady! I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well..I think summer colds are the worst! blah! Your hydrangeas are beautiful..I think I need to move mine, they won't bloom. I'm thinking I have them planted in the wrong spot.
I was outside the other day playing with my new camera (which I've yet to blog about) and took some pics of a momma dove on her next. This morning I went outside to see my hubby off to work, and she was hopping around out there and hopped right up to my feet. I wish I'd had my camera then! She didn't seem to be scared of me at all! :)
Hope you're feeling better soon! Oh and I'm glad you like what I did with the old drawers, it was def a unique opportunity to get to go through that old house!
    Hugs to you girlie

  13. Hey sweet friend ~
    I've had laryngitis
    since last Thursday
    with no end in sight,
    so I can relate to
    this! And, of course,
    social commitments like
    you wouldn't believe;
    figures, right?? These
    are gorgeous hydrangeas.
    I have a few varieties
    and this year has been
    a banner year for them.
    Feel better!!
    xx Suzanne

  15. So sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I think I have the same thing, I just want to lay down and sleep. My throat was soar yesterday, but not today.
Your hydrangeas are beautiful and the lilies are too. The purple flowering plant is lovely! I could probably grow that here! I will have to find out.
Hope you wake up tomorrow feeling completely well again!
    Hugs, Cindy

  17. Linda, I am so sorry you are having a summer cold. I had one that seem to hang on forever...to the point that I thought that I just had allergies but now it is gone. I am not even going to tell you how long it lasted. The flowers in your garden look so much like the flowers in our garden right now...except that your garden in prettier. Just rest and take good care of yourself. I like to make things in my bed. Then I end up sleeping on a paintbrush or something stupid like that!
Thinking of you and hoping you will be netter soon!
    Big jugs,
    Suz
