I have always loved the look of vintage clothes hangers! I've sold quite a few over the years, but have hung on to several I've wanted to display. The hanger above is a recent thrift store find and is the centerpiece I've been waiting for! Such a beauty! Don't you love the wire stretchers and curls? They sure don't make them like this anymore...
I decided to hang them as a group on one of the bathroom walls. I added some of the others which had much simpler, but still great lines...
I think they are a work of art...
and they seem to go so well with the wire baskets in the room, too...
Such simple and inexpensive artwork! Type in "vintage hangers" on Pinterest and you'll see all kinds of collections and displays!

Linda, I love that wooden hanger you found. I've never seen anything like it. Your display looks like something you would see at the Bachman House!
ReplyDeleteI have a few wooden hangers and while cleaning out my mom's apartment I have found a few more. Now what to do with them?
I've never seen a hanger like that! What a work of art and how beautiful they all look together.

Such an unusual hanger...I have collected wooden hangers too - my special one is all wire and very heavy wire. It's so fun to have a collection of unique items!
ReplyDeleteBlogging introduces me to all kinds of "firsts". I have never heard anyone collecting old vintage cloths hangers. But they are very cool looking. the display on the wall is impressive

No way! That is such a cool fancy hanger. Love it.
ReplyDeleteCrazy for the hangers and I love your new look! I pinned a lots from here today:-)
ReplyDeleteLate one night we drove by some bags sitting on the curb for trash pick up...since I look at the side of the road more than in front:-) I spotted part of a wooden hanger sticking out. We stopped and hit the jackpot. None were as fancy and eye catching at yours but they were old! I sold some of them, but some are hanging near my laundry door. Yours are very impressive!
I love them too! I use the 'slacks hangers' for photo display too. The new one you found is a beaut!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I love them..
ReplyDeleteI have never seen one like that before..
I of course love the look of these old hangers. I have mine on display in my laundry room. Thanks for sharing your centerpiece. It's a gem. I hope to find one like that someday.
ReplyDeleteThey truly are little works of art! Charming! Mimi
ReplyDeleteGreat way to display great finds!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Linda!! I collect old hangers too...I like the ones with the graphics of old hotels and dry cleaners. I'm just using mine hang clothes in the laundry room...but now you've got me thinking ;)
ReplyDeleteThose hangers are so cool - very sculptural!

Oh I love them! I have always had a thing for old hangers but I didn't realize other people liked them so well too. I like what you have done with them and...you are giving me ideas! :)
ReplyDeleteThat first one is new to me but I have and use a lot of old wooden coat hangers. Some even have the name of the person to whom they belonged.
ReplyDeleteA great idea! It all comes together so nicely...and l envy you those wire baskets ;-). Ooh to think of all the vintage coat hangers that were tossed when my mother moved...sigh. I have a salvaged few though :-) Pam x
ReplyDeleteThose are really neat Linda. Perfect display of vintage art. Not to mention, they just don't make hangers like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Those hangers really are a work of art.
