A Fun Thrift Store Find and a Simple Transformation...

Recently, I had a fun thrift store find... a charming needlepoint cottage sampler!
So cute...

The frame was very plain, not-so-nice wood...

I am a blogger for DecoArt and recently was provided with some of their Americana Acrylic Paints to do some projects!  I chose some pretty colors for spring...love all the blues and greens...

The color I chose is Blue Mist...

you can see the pretty depth of color...

I did a couple of simple coats of paint on the frame, and lightly distressed it to let a little of the wood come through.  The paint is very easy to use, and cleans up easily, too...

I love the punch of color, and think it adds to the cottage look of the piece.  I hung it above a clock my oldest son made many years ago in a shop class...and added a couple of friendly little dogs...

I've been working on a few other quick transformation projects with my paints and will be sharing them with you soon!

I ALSO LOVE YOUR DOGS.I HAVE 4 LITTLE DOGSLIKE YOURS THAT ARE SO VERY OLD SITTING ON ONE OF MY TABLES. ONE IS FROM A NEIGHBORS' HOME OF SOME 77 YEARS AGO. I USED TO GO TO HER HOUSE AS A CHILD AND SHE HAD A COLLECTION OF DOGS. SHE USED TO LET ME STAND AND LOOK THEM OVER EVERYTIME I WOULD VISIT HER. SHE HAD NO KIDS AND ALWAYS LOVE IT WHEN I WOULD KNOCK ON HER DOOR AND ASK HER IF I COULD COME IN TO PLAY. SHE WAS LIKE A 2ND MOM.SHE NEVER TURNED ME AWAY.MEMORIES..THAT PICTURE OF YOURS HAS MEMORIES TOO, I BET.THANKS FOR LETTING ME ENTER YOUR WORLD IF ONLY FOR A FEW MINUTES. GRANNY[FLORIDA]

  19. It's perfect, I love that color. Needle points take so long to make and I always feel guilty when I pick them up for a couple dollars!
