A Simple Shelf Vignette...

One thing I love to find at thrift stores is a nice shelf.  They're so useful for storage, but sometimes I use them to provide a little architectural interest in a room, as well.  Recently, I found a shelf with this beautiful carved leaf detail...

It fit perfectly over the doorway from the living room into the kitchen, and I started creating a simple vignette.  Since it's over a doorway, I went for lightweight pieces.
First up, a narrow tobacco basket...

Then I added a charming racing pencil holder and some bingo ephemera...

Over the holidays, it was beautiful covered with greens, but now,
it makes a nice place to display some of my fun finds!

I am joining~
Until next time...

  3. Lovely display! I'm hoping to find a long skinny basket similar to yours so I can store my rolled up hooked rugs in it - I'll have to try a search for a tobacco basket now!

  9. What a beautiful shelf, Linda! Such a great thrift store find. I haven't been thrifting in a little while now and need to go. If the snow would stop (and the streets de-ice) I'm hoping to get there later this week. I love how you decorated this shelf. I'm sure you will have lots of fun setting up vignettes on it.
