I Love Coffee, I Love Tea...

It's a snowy day here in Minnesota...and I like nothing better than to have
a nice hot latte or cup of tea!

Recently, I found a wood tray at the thrift store.  I had planned to decoupage the interior, but had trouble getting the look I wanted.  I finally just removed the paper, allowed the decoupage medium to dry, and then painted the tray.

It ended up with a nice light crackle finish, that I accented with a dark/clear wax mixture to seal the paint.  I think it was a happy accident!

The tray is perfect to use on the kitchen counter for a coffee/tea/cocoa station...
and I love the light color to break up the dark counter.

Aren't these the cutest mugs?
I bought them from Crate and Barrel's Valentine collection...

  1. Linda, What a fabulous mistake !! worked out so nicely I actually love it. Seeing your cute coffee station makes me want one now. I have been thinking about one for a while now. Also I remember my SIL had an album of the Inkspots, she like old classic stuff...she would play that I think they sound so good. Thanks for this sweet post. Hope you are doing well . 4. That was definitely a happy accident! I love when that happens :)

I'm in love with those polka dot cups, but then again, I love anything with polka dots.

That valentine brought back lots of memories. I remember exchanging valentines with all my classmates in elementary school (do they still call it that?) and they looked just like that one.

    and beautifully! So so
    pretty!

    I love all three bevs,
    although I have to be
    careful with coffee,
    even decaf, so it's a
    special treat : )

  10. Your tray turned out lovely, the crackled finish is really great. I had a similar "accident" after painting a shelf. I forgot it out over night and we had frost. The paint went all crackled and looked so nice. Love your pretty cups too, all looks so lovely and cosy together in the tray. I am a black coffee and herb tea person. Always start my day with a big mug of coffee :). Pam xx

  15. Love the crackle glaze tray, so interesting that this is coming back into fashion, I remember when I crackle glazed two of my bedside tables way back in the early 1990s. Those polka dot mugs and the latte mugs are just too cute...the red really sets the tone for valentine's day. Sharon

  16. So much loveliness in one post! Love the tray and the sweet mugs especially.

Tea! Peppermint, Chamomile and Honey, Green tea and Cranberry, Snore and Peace and Earl Grey in my cupboard at the moment! I do love my lunchtime latte at home though in my special Costa cup that Elliott gave me :)
