Displaying Collections...

This past week I have been hard at work getting ready for a garage sale!  It's time to clean some stuff out and de-clutter a little.  I have a few things I like to collect, but tend to spread them out in my decorating, so often it doesn't even seem like a collection.  Lately, I have been gathering my pieces together and displaying them more like artwork.  I have quite a few picnic baskets...

I love how they look now,
stacked in a small space between two doors.

They really make a statement now, and actually de-cluttered many other areas of the house.

My breadboard collection was tweaked a little this week, too.  I brought in a wicker plant stand from the porch and used it to hold my breadboards, and I am putting silver trays in there, too.  It keeps things organized, yet makes a pretty display, as well.

collections- Itsy Bits And Pieces

It is big enough to hold trays, too...

You might remember some of the other collections I've been gathering to display as artwork...

What collections do you display?

Until next time...I'll be hoping for good weather and lots of shoppers at the garage sale!

  4. I really love the picnic baskets---they all seem to be in good condition, too. (have you ever priced a new one? Shudder!). I like the bread boards also but I would use them more than collect them. I don't really collect any one thing---I'm sort of scattered and have what I want. I am always reluctant to have a garage sale here, I don't want my neighbors to have privy to the things I own---those things say a lot and I'm a bit reserved!! I would and should bring some stuff to the lake where I wouldn't mind.

Thanks for your visits, Linda...you're great.

  6. I love seeing your collections.... I just love how you put things together and having a collection of things does seem to have more impact and it's interesting to see different versions of the same thing. Thank you for sharing :)

I put all my crochet hooks (!) in an old jar and I love how they all look. There not old or anything but they are just kind of cute! A little weird?

  7. You have so many wonderful collections, Linda, and I'm impressed with the ways you've thought of to group them together. The wicker plant stand is genius for holding your bread boards and trays, and there's even room below for another collection. I hope you have a successful garage sale!

  14. They all look awesome Linda, love the yardsticks in that basket!! Collections? OMG where would I start! White ironstone, vintage oil paintings, anything to do with sewing, vintage crochet...etc....I think I have a bad case of collecting but it's so much fun!!! And I do try to display most of it...no one is allowed in my house tho as they would wonder about me :)
So tempted to ask about your garage sale...maybe send me an email just in case because I have a hunch it will be a good one!

I collect vintage kitchen tools with red handles, crocks, antique irons, and tea cups. Each small collection is grouped together. It's such fun to remember where I discovered each little treasure! Hope your garage sale is a huge success! ♡Dawn@Petals.Paper.SimpleThymes

  21. I'm like you, scatter stuff and it looks so much nicer grouped. So I'll bring my two picnic baskets to your house, my 5 breadboards, two globes, and 6 yardsticks.

  25. Great displays, Linda. Bread boards are a new one for me; I have mine stacked on top of an antique, glass front cupboard in my kitchen. It makes me very happy. I've also got green glass lining the window sill over my kitchen sink. It looks lovely when the sun shines through :)
