Apple Season...

For me, one of the most anticipated
parts of the fall season is...apples!  It's so nice having
the fresh, crunchy, juicy apples back again!
We have a couple of trees and
I love seeing the apples ripen!

We don't spray ours, so they aren't the prettiest apples,
but they're still fun to use for baking!

I love using a big orchard basket to pick...

And who doesn't love using apples in fall cooking?
This is one of my
apple cookbooks (affiliate link).
I love eating anything apple in the fall!

I love to decorate with apples, too...
my giant stoneware bowl makes a pretty centerpiece
filled with realistic faux apples and pears...

Last fall I made this fun apple sign project

Isn't this a great vintage crate label?
It will be fun to use for a project!

And just this week I found these little faux crabapples at the thrift store!  Aren't they pretty with the ironstone bowl and rusty tin?

Are you enjoying apple season at your home?

Until next time...

  1. You are so good at styling photos! You always amaze me. I finally bought one of those big old bowls a few years ago. I'm scared to death I'll break it!

  2. Hi Linda, I really like the new header. I love apples too. My neighbor man calls his organic...no sprays. I have found some nice enough to make apple crisp. They are good about sharing. I absolutely love all the faux apples...cause they look so real. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Love your new header! Apples always make me think Fall! I have two crabapple trees in my back yard but unfortunately, the squirrels think they belong to them. As do the peaches off the peach tree also.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. Lovely post, Linda :) I'm from apple country so they are very nostalgic for me. Wish I had some growing in my back yard. Love your new header, too. I'm thinking about updating mine--hope it ends up looking as good as yours!

  6. I love apples, too. My favorite eating apples are the Honey Crisps and they are often hard to find here. Your header looks great, by the way!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. xo Diana

  11. I just threw a bag of apples in a stoneware bowl yesterday. They're one of my favorite ways to decorate for fall without having to go all "pumpkins" and "leaves". Love that Snow Owl Apples label!

  12. I love autumn for apple season too. At a recent vintage fair one of the stalls were offering free apples, so they came home with me and were turned into an apple slice. Can't beat home grown apples and pastry! Have a good week. Sharon

  13. You are so lucky that you have apple trees! A neighbor down the street has an apple tree right at the edge of the road and it always has a ton of apples on it...and they never pick any! It pains me every time I drive past their house because I think, "What a waste!" I would love to go ring their doorbell and ask if I could pick some, but I'm a chicken. ;-) I love how you have the faux fruit in the ironstone and stoneware bowls. So pretty.

  15. What a lovely post and it doesn't matter what they look like they taste so much better than shop ones (over here anyway!)

You've made me want apple crumble/apple cake and all sorts now ;)

    Great label

  16. Great photos Linda! I took my mother to a nearby orchard yesterday and we got our apples. It's something we do together every year. Your apples are beautiful! We don't spray either and ours are not so nice. We leave them for the deer.

  17. I love the faux apples--no fruit flies and soft spots! I love making applesauce with quartered and cored unpeeled apples in my crock pot (drops or less-than-perfects work well); I start it at night and get up to the entire house smelling like cinnamon! The sauce is redder from the skins; sometimes I add cinnamon red hot candies, too!

    1. The applesauce sounds wonderful...I need to do that soon! My faux apples are so real looking that several have bite marks from grandchildren lol!
