Feeling Blue and a Simple Project

I am still putting away Christmas decorations (can you tell I am dragging my feet?) but I have been enjoying putting some BLUE into my decor as some red disappears!  I used to be all about blue, but as I am fickle, it fell out of my favor...
I even sold off all of my blue and white dishes.  (why, oh why?)
But then I discovered these pretty patterns...

You can see they aren't exactly alike...but I love the variations I have found from several makers.  I am always on the lookout at the thrift store for pieces that will be fun to use together. I have found platters, bowls, serving pieces...
but I am hoping to find a set of dinner plates one of these days.
They look great used with my plain white dishes, too.

I added the pretty table runner, too...
one of Target's pieces found new at the thrift.

I found a set of four pretty quilted placemats, too,
and used them as accents around the dining room area.

The pattern is so lovely...

Adding a few blue cookbooks,

a little teapot,

along with my blue and white dishtowels and apron, add a fresh look to the room!

I did a simple project, too!
We received a wood cheese box full of goodies for Christmas.
You may have one of these around the house, yourself!

I gave it a quick coat of paint...

and used a vintage French cheese label I had to decorate it.  You can go on Pinterest and type in "vintage cheese labels" and find many pretty labels there.

I love the blue-gray color!

I'm enjoying finding other blue pieces around the house to use here. too!
Have you been in the mood for a color change, too?

Until next time...

  4. We are thinking alike. I am putting some blue plaid throw pillows in my family room as I take out the Christmas pillows. Blue and white is one of my favorite color combos.

  7. Adorable. I was all about blue when we first got married. The serving bowl looks like our pattern as a matter of fact. I haven't given ours away but get it out and use it in the summer sometimes. You may have just inspired me to give a room a bit of a danish feel. It all looks so pretty. I love that box.

  9. OMGOSH, Linda. I did the same thing. I had blue and white for YEARS and then I either gave it away or sold it. How I wish I had it back now! I did keep one small 16 piece set of blue and white E that is antique.

I love the table runner, too. I will be so glad to have a new house to 'play in' come Spring.

Have a wonderful, wonderful week. xo Diana

  10. Beautiful Linda! I use blues in my guest room, but have thought about someday using them in my kitchen. I've got gray/green tile on my counter top, though and think I'll have to wait :(

  11. I love the new color scheme, Linda! You found some pretty pieces, too. Your cheese box is wonderful - I have one that my son actually made in 'wood-shop'! Time to get it out, I think, and give it a label! Thanks for the idea. Hope you have fun finding more blues to play with! xo Karen

  12. I love all your blue stuff, especially the bowls. I have a bowl buying problem (and a casserole dish buying problem, as well.) I can't seem to stop buying them!

  13. Blue and white add a nice fresh feel after all the Christmas has been packed away. And with the cold temps, blue and white are fitting! Love your vintage finds and the cheese box makeover, too!
