Guest Bedrooms

I can't believe it is nearly the middle of July!  What is it about summer that makes it fly by so fast?  Maybe it's all the fun and busy days...and the fact
that it is so fleeting here in Minnesota! We had lots of beach time and family over the 4th...it's such fun watching kids play in the lake.

Today I thought I'd share the guest bedrooms at the lakehouse!
We've been moving pieces from our house and it's fun to see things used in a new way!  It's always a work-in-progress, with more decorating to come
as we continue to move, but you can see where we are going anyway!

Guest Bedrooms- Itsy Bits And Pieces

This is guest bedroom one.
We used a queen bed and Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic bedding we had.

This painting is one of my favorites...it's like looking through a window.

This bench and basket were in our entryway at home...

and you might remember the mantel we used there, as well!

I used the Sweet Dreams sign I made, on a floating shelf.

It's a small room, and a cozy, sought after space.

Guest room two is a little larger.  We put in a queen bed, along with a daybed and a twin pullout...perfect for a family group.

The daybed is handy for kids, and there is a pullout twin, too.

This artwork is a nod to our two Boston Terrier
granddogs that sleep in this room, too!

I'm looking forward to adding even more personality
to these spaces as we continue the transition!
Both of these rooms overlook the lake, and it's nice to have
all three bedrooms ready for relaxation!

And there's one more area to share!
We did a little update of the coffee bar area in the dining room...
my hutchtop from the dining room at home joined the party!
The lakehouse really had no space for the hutch,
so we are using the parts in other ways!  It will still let me
decorate for the seasons, in a functional way!

Don't be afraid to use what you have in a whole new way!

Until next time...

  1. Looking so good. I love the bedrooms! Using things in new ways is much better then just tossing them as so many in the world seem to do. Re-purpose!

    1. Thank you, Linda! I so agree! Recently I took the long stainless steel handle off of our old barbecue (on its way to metal recycling) to use as a kitchen towel bar...and our old stainless dishwasher door will be the top of a kitchen cart. I love to re-use what I can!

  3. I don't think your guests will ever leave. I especially like that cute SWEET DREAMS sign.

I am replying here to you comment on my post - still having issues with not getting comments in my email. You are on the list for the tote drawing.

  4. I love it, Linda! It makes me think about what we will be able to take with us when we move to the farm...Thanks for the encouragement to use things in different ways. Love the hutch top at your coffee bar!
Summer goes by fast...well, the months do but not the weather down here in Texas. It stays hot until October! :)

    1. Thank you, Melanie! We are living at the lake half time, now...moving things each time we go down.
Still things we need to do on the other house to get it on the market, but we're getting there!

  13. We are going thru the exact same thing - I might have told you that already. Anyway, we've moved most of our stuff to the lake and have re-used a lot of things. We have ONE more trailer load to move and then we are done! Our house went on the market last week. The end is in sight!
