This week I've had fun working on some spring projects!
Today I'll be joining the Thrifty Chicks for
our monthly challenge with one of those projects!
This month our makeover challenge is canisters, buckets, pails, etc.

I decided to do a simple spring makeover with a big metal
coffee can/canister and create a flower bucket!
I had this coffee can from Sam's Club...I like the ribbing on the sides.
It's too cold here for spray painting so I used a multi-surface satin craft paint, and applied three coats with a foam brush. The foam brush gave a textured finish.
Here it is after one coat. With three coats, it ended up looking like pottery.

I left the interior unpainted so I could use this in many ways in the future.
Once I finished the paint, I wanted to decoupage a vintage spring bulb, seed garden ad...or something like that. You can find printables on many sites...Pinterest, The Graphics Fairy has a lot of good ones, too. I found a great graphic on ArtsCult.com (not sponsored links, just what I use) and it was just what I was looking for.
I simply glued it on the can with decoupage medium, not topcoating it.
Now the reason I chose to make this flower bucket was to hold my new Faux Tulips! I don't know if you have seen these new soft touch poly urethane tulips before,
but they look and feel so real! I have a bunch of 30 in mixed colors...
They were perfect with the label and the nice deep canister.
I'll love using this piece with many future arrangements, too!

Love this and I never would think that was a coffee can. It has great texture and pretty graphic. I can see a flower growing inside for summer.

Those tulips do look real! You can definitely tell the cheap ones from the nicer ones. Love the bright, happy colors of the label with the flowers. That will definitely put a think spring smile on your face everyday!
