Simple Nature Inspired Spring Decor Projects

Hi Friends!
Hope you are doing well! We are still under a stay home order here
and after another snowstorm and cold weather, I'm so happy to see spring arriving now!
I am ready to get outside in my yard and feel some warmth!  How about you?
With spring on my mind...I thought I'd share some simple nature inspired spring decor projects that I've been working on lately! I hope this brings a little sunshine into your day!

I was inspired by this wonderful set of 40 Hollow Quail Eggshells.
They are real empty quail eggshells, packed beautifully in their own little egg carton. Great for crafting, and decorating!

I wanted to fill a Ball jar with these and used a jar with a two part lid. The Graphics Fairy has great printable labels...I used her Fab Round French Apothecary Label
and printed it to 3x5 size, fit to space.

I cut it to fit the lid and glued it on.

You can simply write on the label, but I added an old gummed label and wrote "Quail Eggs". I had a vintage label, but you can find many printables on Pinterest, like this one.

I love how it turned out!

Next I ordered a couple of printable Quail prints from Artscult (not an affiliate link, just what I used) and decided to use this one to make a rustic art piece. I printed it out, cut it to fit a small piece of wood I had, and glued it onto the board.

I wanted to make a rustic "frame".  I cut four similar sized branches and hot glued them into a frame. After gluing the crossbars, I wrapped them in cotton yarn.

I hot glued the frame onto the board at the glued corners.  You could easily tie on a hanging strap. but I wanted to let it stand.

For my next project, I wanted to make a little nest.  I was inspired by the technique used by creative Paula of Virginia Sweet Pea. She made beautiful little nests using shredded lunch sacks...be sure to check it out!  I didn't have any lunch sacks, but used a piece of package padding I had. I wanted to make a little nest to hold some of the quail eggs.

It has many thin layers and reminds me of crepe paper.
I cut it into strips and separated the layers.

Then I crumpled them all up to get a wrinkled look,
then spread them out into a little mat...

and drizzled them with a little matte decoupage medium.

I shaped them around the bottom of a large cottage cheese tub.

When it was dry, I gently peeled it off, and I had a solid, yet still soft little nest form.

I glued on a few natural elements and added eggs!

These fun pieces made a sweet little spring vignette...

Adding a couple of old books and some White Faux Tulips completes the vignette!

I used a different quail print in another area...simply pinning it to the wall.

And am forcing cherry blossoms in a green Ball jar...so simple.

I use my Candle Warmer Lamp with my favorite scents. There are lots of styles and colors of these.

Another old book elevates the lamp...

  5. Love it all Linda. Between you and Paula I think giving nests a try may have to happen.

    Love the frame you created.

It's still cool here. I wish it was warm everyday to sit out with the pups.

I'm hoping our garden center will open for flowers. I will be so sad if no flowers are purchased this year.

    1. Thank you, Cindy! Not real warm here either...we still have to heat our sunporch to sit out there. Usually gets nice in May! Can't wait!

  8. You are so amazingly talented with your visions of what you want to create and then how you do it. I love this vignette and how you created everything, especially the nest and the twig frame. I love your wooden lamp with the blue and white shade, too. So pretty.

  10. Linda you are the queen of beautifully textured vignettes. I've long admired your artistic vision. I just love looking at how you pull things together. And that twig frame is so simple but so cool-looking. Why didn't I think of this? :)
Thank you for dropping by and letting me know how you're doing through this sheltering down time. I do remember hearing about your past physical struggles and so I'm so relieved to hear that you and your hubby are taking this serious because it is serious. Jim has some preexisting conditions too that make us both very cautious when we have to go out. Because we live in a beach community where everyone likes to come, we get a lot of traffic from other areas but the city has closed all parking lots around the beach and made it much harder for outsiders to visit. How is your family? I can't remember if you're all in same city. I know it must be hard to be separated. I'm so happy that you're so creative, I tap into so much wonderful Zen-like energy when I'm in the middle of even the littlest projects. And I get the feeling that you do too. Sending you a big virtual hug from SoCal! stay safe and healthy dear Linda.

  12. OBSESSED WITH THIS, LINDA (said in an excited not yelling voice hehe) You are so creative. This is all totally fabulous. I did not even know you could buy quail eggs like that - too cool. I love the shredded nest you made and twig frame with vintage art inspiration as well. I wish we lived closer ALL the time. We could safely social distance and craft :) Sending you hugs, CoCo
