Christmas Hutch Decorating And Some Fun Projects

This week I'll be getting ready for Thanksgiving gatherings,
but first I thought I would share a little Christmas hutch decorating
and a couple of fun projects I did for it!

Remember the plaid wallpaper on shared on my Fun Holiday Finds post?
I have lots of ideas for using it, but I started by lining the back of my hutch with it!  I just used some mounting tape at the corners of each piece, so I can remove it, if I want and the paper can be re-used.  I think it makes such a pretty backdrop for  Christmas hutch decorating!

The hutch is decorated with white stoneware and pottery, greens, and red Christmas accents. I keep my Aurora Candle Warmer Lamp there, too, and use it nearly every day. Right now I'm using it with a Balsam Candle.  I love that it works as warmer and a lamp, and I don't need to light the candle.

The red berry garland was a recent thrift store find...I simply rolled it up and placed it in the stoneware dish.

I love teacup trees...I made this one years ago and dusted it with mica flakes.  If you are looking for mica flakes you can find some here
They make anything sparkle...

Do you notice my little stoneware crocks?  I absolutely love old marmalade, mustard, and other stoneware jars...but I never find them at the thrift store...and they are expensive at the antique stores.  But I often find plain crocks, very inexpensively.  I have tried for quite awhile to make some reproduction jars of my own...with transfers, and waterslide decals with limited success.  Until now.

I found these, just released this fall...from Iron Orchid Designs...a set of clear label stamps with such wonderful designs!

Look at some of these fun projects!

Such great graphics!

I simply cut out the stamp, and used my permanent black ink stamp pad.  I just curved it around the crock, pressed lightly, and pulled straight off.  It was so easy! I messed up a few, but found I was able to easily remove the ink off the crock with a damp magic eraser, if I cleaned it right away.

I love how these turned out and am looking forward to making other items....like tile coasters!

IOD sells through independent retailers...online and in shops.  You can find lots of sources on their website. This is not an affiliate link, I just wanted to share this fun project with you!

  2. Oh my gosh, Linda, I love those types of crocks and NEVER have been able to find any in thrift stores just like you. They have a retailer 7 miles from my home! Uh, yes, I'm heading over there today:( I love everything about your hutch (that paper is fabulous) and I thank you for the stamp information! Have a great Thanksgiving! xo Kathleen

  7. Your crocks look so good! I did coasters. I bought 1000 paper coasters at an auction house in Australia for 5.00. I will have to try to find some crocks!

  8. I love your crocks and was finally able to purchase two recently but can't usually afford them. I have gone online and ordered the stamps. Now to find blank crocks to stamp. Thanks so much for sharing.

  12. You did a fantastic job on those crocks. I absolutely LOVE them. They look like the real thing (antiques that is). That wallpaper makes the perfect backdrop.

What I like here are the 'little' things....the jingle bell tied with green ribbon, the chenille snow person and the little teacup tree, etc. Just lovely.

Have a wonderful weekend - xo Diana
